Themed ‘Powering Nigeria’s Sustainable Energy Future’ the 2023 NOG Week will focus on the strategies to be deployed by the Nigerian government and private sector leaders to navigate the emerging business environment.

As the world transitions from fossil fuels, pressure mounts on Africa, especially the continent’s oil and gas producing nations, to adopt greener energy sources despite accounting for less than 4% of the world’s total cumulative greenhouse gas emissions. The NOG week provides the platform for industry experts and leaders to deliberate on ensuring a just transition for Nigerians, utilizing the nation’s abundant resources like gas and renewable energy.

As a thought leader and voice of the sector, Oando delegates will lead discussions in three sessions: The Deputy Group Chief Executive (DGCE) Oando PLC, Omamofe Boyo, will give a keynote address at the conference shedding light on the challenges and opportunities in the nation’s energy sector and sharing his perspective on the future of the sector.

In a panel session themed, ‘Accelerating Gas Development for Nigeria’s Energy Transition Journey’, Dr. Ainojie Irune, Chief Operating Officer, Oando Energy Resources, will deliberate on what a just energy transition means for Nigeria. He will address the role of gas in accelerating the energy transition and how the country can ensure energy security through infrastructural development. He will speak alongside AbdulKabir M. Ahmed, Executive Vice President – Gas, Power& New Energies, NNPC; Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria LNG; Eberechukwu Oji, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, ND Western and Julius Rone, Group Managing Director, UTM Offshore.

Ms. Ayotola Jagun, Chief Compliance Officer and Company Secretary will share the Oando perspective in a plenary session themed ‘Exploring Emerging Opportunities for Local Content in Meeting Future Energy Demands’ alongside, Abdulmalik Halilu, Director, Research and Statistics, NCDMB; Wale Fayemi, Country Adviser – Multi Energies, TotalEnergies; George Onafowokan, Managing Director, Coleman Cables & Wires; Victor Ude, Managing Director, Vurin Group; and Senior Representative – Renewables, Shell. In the session, the panelists will proffer solutions to the humancapacity gaps that exist in harnessing cleaner energy opportunities as well as emerging opportunities that exist for companies traditionally servicing the oil and gas industry.
