Two Oando Subsidiaries receive ISO 9001:2008 Certification
Oando PLC, Nigeria’s leading energy conglomerate is pleased to announce that two more of its subsidiaries, Oando Supply & Trading and Oando Exploration & Production have received the ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management systems from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), representative of International Organisation for Standardization in Nigeria.
The award which is subsequent to a series of rigorous and extensive audit of the companies’ facilities and processes, brings to four the number of Oando subsidiaries with ISO Certification. Prior, Oando Marketing PLC and Oando Gas and Power have received the ISO 9001:2000 which has now been upgraded to the latest ISO 9001:2008 certification.
ISO 9001:2008 is global standard mechanism designed to improve business processes with the objective of deepening workplace safety, service delivery and product quality for customers. The tool is a mix of methodologies and principles used in evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of a quality management system.
Speaking at the award formal presentation of the certificates on June 7, 2011 at the Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the Director General, Standards Organization of Nigeria, Dr Joseph I. Odumodu congratulated the two companies saying “I join other Nigerians to congratulate you on this milestone achievement. By this achievement, these companies have joined the lofty class of Quality Management Systems certified companies in Nigeria. This is a giant stride in the pursuit of excellence to provide quality services in the oil & gas industry. This is worthy of emulation by well meaning business community”.
Commenting, Chief Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Officer, Oando PLC, Dr Chris Onuoha stated that “The ISO 9001:2008 certification offers us a unique matrix to audit and measure the effectiveness of our processes; enhance our productivity and assure our customers of a strong service delivery culture. We will continue to subject our operations to the highest international scrutiny as a major driver of service excellence”
