  • Declares free motorcycle oil for all contestants, 2,000 guests at the event’s grand finale

Oando Marketing Limited (OML), Nigeria’s largest indigenous downstream petroleum marketing company is proud to announce that it has emerged the official ‘Motorcycle Oil Partner’ for the maiden “Top Okada Riders Grand Prix” competition, organised by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Lagos State Command.

The competition was designed to educate commercial motorcyclists (popularly known as Okada) on safe riding techniques and road traffic signs. It involved various games such as obstacle course, balance/stability, road puzzle, mental alertness and games to test contestant level of patience, discipline and perseverance on the road.

Commenting on the initiative, Yomi Awobokun, Chief Operating Officer, Oando Marketing Limited said, “Oando Marketing is proud to partner with the FRSC in this laudable initiative to facilitate safe riding techniques for Okada riders and ultimately, passengers. We are leaders in the sale of motorcycle oil and this initiative is our way of appreciating customer loyalty, whilst promoting safety and education.”

Also commenting, Jonas Agwu, Sector Commandant of FRSC, Lagos State command said, “We are very grateful to Oando for their support towards this unique safety awareness initiative, which is part of our series of awareness campaign to promote safety of lives and property on our roads. This is the first of its kind in Nigeria and we are hopeful that the campaign will be extended to other states of the Federation. The education from this event is built around fun and exciting activities to encourage easy learning and recall with great prizes to be won by those who qualify for the events grand finale”.

As ‘Official Motorcycle Oil Partner’ to the event, Oando Marketing gave out a free can of Oando motorcycle oil to each contestant and the first 2,000 riders to arrive at the venue of the grand draw.

To participate in the competition, a rider must obtain registration form from the FRSC office at Ojodu, Lagos. The performance of the Okada rider is scored at each event which includes endurance trek, drills, one-on-one IQ test and contestants’ formal training programme.
