General Manager, Business Support Group

Alero Balogun is General Manager, Business Support Group (BSG), Oando Energy Resources, with lead responsibility for the Corporate Communications, Human Capital Management, Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Management departments.

With over 20 years of experience in Marketing and Communications, she joined Oando in 2013 as the Corporate Communications Manager, a role she held for 4 years before rising to become Head, Corporate Communications and CSR at Oando PLC, with the remit of driving positive brand perception both internally and externally via showcasing the brand as the most desirable company to work and invest in.

She successfully managed the implementation of a local and international marketing communications campaign for Oando’s N1.6bn acquisition of ConocoPhillips Nigeria in 2014.

Prior to joining the company, she worked in various marketing companies in the United Kingdom and Nigeria, with oversight of brands such as Microsoft, Columbia Tristar, Cadbury, Elizabeth Arden, Virgin Nigeria and the Dangote Group.

Alero is a strong advocate in the marketing community, serving as a speaker at the 02 Academy, an advertising academy where fresh graduates with an interest in advertising get hands-on brand management and creative training. She has also represented Oando as a keynote speaker and panelist at the Climate Council Dubai, a speaker at the Energy Institute ‘Energy Sustainability’ Conference, VFD Group’s ‘Leave No Woman Behind: The 50% Rule’ panel, Mitsubishi Motors Anniversary and Heritage Week panel session ‘Building a Heritage Brand’, the ‘Global Corporate Citizenship Panel’ at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Shapers Curators Meeting, Switzerland as well as a contributor and participant at Africa Oil Week’s (AOW) 2019 Women’s Breakfast Briefing.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the University of Central England, Birmingham, as well as an MA in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Leeds.
