Oando Hosts Webinar On Lockdown Exit Strategy

Oando Hosts Webinar on Lockdown Exit Strategy

Oando PLC is set to host the second edition of its monthly webinar series.  This month’s webinar is themed “Lockdown Exit Strategy: Timing, Scope and Governance” and is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 10.00 a.m. WAT. The webinar will take the mode of a panel discussion; featuring Professor Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Joao Hrotko, MD & Partner, Lagos Boston Consulting Group,  Ada Osakwe, Founder & CEO, Nuli Juice & Agrolay Ventures;; as well as a welcome address by Dr. Ainojie “Alex” Irune, Chief Operating Officer, Oando Energy Resources. The panel discussion will be moderated by CNN Africa Correspondent, Eleni Giokos.

As an indigenous oil and gas company, Oando has shown through a diverse range of mediums that its focus is multi-faceted, and goes beyond the sector; engaging in conversations both locally and internationally in the areas of economic development, education and gender diversity, changing the narrative in Nigeria and Africa at large.

Following the successful maiden edition of the webinar in April 2020, held in partnership with the Institute of Directors; Oando aims to use the monthly series as a platform for discourse amongst thought leaders and their peers, a go to resource for information and solutions for navigating the new normal; and generate actions that will shape behavior and create lasting change.

The theme for the 2nd edition is predicated on the gradual re-opening of countries, specifically in Nigeria, the easing of the lockdown by the Federal Government in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun state.

As countries globally begin to ease into the post lockdown phase, the delicate balance of getting the exit strategy right requires an understanding of the timing and scope of the exit, as well as the governance systems that will enforce required behavior. This webinar seeks to encourage meaningful and engaging conversations on the best way to resolve the unique and uncharted issues that are specific to the African environment.

Key focus areas to be discussed include:

  • When is the right time to exit the lockdown – what indices must we measure to determine appropriate timing?
  • Balancing the priorities: human capital vs financial (economic capital)
  • Scoping the exit – how to modularize the new norm, design, policies and guidelines, communication, and enforcement
  • Behavioral change management: people, business, and the public arena
  • What will success look like?
