Oando PLC to Champion African-Caribbean Collaboration at the Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM) 2025

Oando PLC, one of Africa’s leading indigenous energy companies, is set to participate as an Nnamdi Azikiwe Hologram Sponsor at the 32nd Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM), scheduled to commence today, June 25 to 28, 2025, at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigeria.

The Afreximbank Annual Meetings represent one of Africa’s premier financial and economic gatherings, gathering African leaders, ministers, central bank governors, CEOs and key stakeholders in the global development space. The 2025 edition is especially significant as it marks Nigeria hosting the event after 32 years since hosting the first Afreximbank Annual Meeting and is expected to welcome over 1,500 delegates from across Africa, the Caribbean and more.

The theme of this year’s meetings, ‘Building the Future on Decades of Resilience’’ resonates strongly with Oando’s long-standing vision of African self-determination through cross-border collaboration and private sector-led transformation. The four-day program will feature a blend of plenary sessions, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and the Annual General Meeting of Afreximbank shareholders, with a focus on trade finance, economic resilience and new partnerships between Africa and the diaspora.

Wale Tinubu CON, Group Chief Executive, Oando PLC, will speak on the first day of the conference on a high-level panel, discussing ‘Leveraging a Common Heritage – The Afreximbank Caribbean Initiative.’ This session will explore the imperative of building stronger economic bridges between Africa and the Caribbean, leveraging shared history, cultural ties and commercial synergies to unlock growth across both regions.

Oando’s participation underscores its commitment to fostering inclusive growth and positioning African private sector advocates at the forefront of global trade and economic policy discourse. By consistently engaging in high-level conversations and strategic partnerships, particularly with institutions like Afreximbank, Oando continues to spotlight the importance of driving critical dialogues around Africa-led solutions. These conversations are essential to unlocking the full potential of the continent’s abundant resources. This shift is already visible in the energy sector, where indigenous oil companies are increasingly taking on more prominent roles. It is imperative that this momentum cascades into other sectors, encouraging a broader movement to look inward and harness Africa’s vast resources to solve the continent’s most pressing challenges
