Oando, Africa’s leading integrated energy solutions provider, has confirmed its participation as an Emerald Partner at the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) 2025: Invest in African Energies conference, underscoring the company’s ambitious regional growth agenda.
The announcement comes on the back of Oando’s strategic expansion into Angola earlier this year, marking a milestone in its continental footprint. In January2025, through its upstream subsidiary Oando Energy Resources, the company secured operatorship of Block KON 13 in Angola’s onshore Kwanza Basin. With estimated prospective resources of between 770 million and 1.1 billion barrels, the block represents a significant development opportunity and a strong entry point into the Angolan market.
At home in Nigeria, Oando continues to strengthen its portfolio across onshore and offshore producing assets in the Niger Delta and continental shelf. In August2024, the company completed its landmark $783 million acquisition of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) from Italian major Eni. The transaction doubled Oando’s reserves to roughly one billion barrels of oil equivalent, increasing its stake in four onshore oil mining leases—OMLs 60, 61, 62, and 63—from 20% to 40%.
The acquisition also expanded Oando’s access to forty discovered fields, twenty-four of which are producing, as well as extensive infrastructure including twelve production stations, 1,490 km of pipelines, three gas processing plants, the Brass River Oil Terminal, and the Kwale-Okpai Phases 1 & 2 power plants with a combined capacity of 960 MW.
Looking ahead, Oando has set its sights on boosting production to 100,000 barrels perday and increasing gas output to 1.5 billion standard cubic feet daily within four years.
Speaking on the company’s partnership with AEW 2025, Wale Tinubu CON, Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, said:
“Africa Energy Week presents a critical platform to shape how we maximize our continent's vast energy resources to meet urgent development needs. At Oando, we see this conference as a catalyst to spark bold dialogue and inspire action. It presents a vital opportunity to forge partnerships that move Africa closer to securing its long-term energy future. By fully harnessing our natural resources, we not only support the development of our nation but also create the foundation to fund and accelerate the continent’s energy transition.”
