Adopt – A – School Programme
In a bid to further Oando’s commitment of improving access to basic education in our host communities, the Adopt-A-School programme was initiated in April 2007 in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education.
The project aims at supporting the development of selected schools over a three year period by renovating facilities; integration of teacher and student learning, provision of learning aids and support libraries.
Currently 27 government-owned primary schools have been adopted in our host communities of which seven have been renovated and others provided with water and appropriate sanitation facilities.
Further, Oando continues to sponsor and support key school events like sports days and prize-giving days. Our intention is to support at least 100 schools across West Africa by 2015.
Selection Criteria
- The schools must be government primary schools
- They must be situated in communities Oando operates in
- They should be situated along our pipelines
- They are situated close to our depots or service stations
- They need renovations only to existing physical structures
