Central Horizon Gas Company (CHGC)
Central Horizon Gas Company (CHGC) is the special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up to rehabilitate and expand the distribution of natural gas in the Greater Port Harcourt Area, Rivers State located in South-South region of Nigeria. The promoters of CHGC are Oando PLC (Oando), the Rivers State Government and TSL Logistics Limited, with Oando as the Operator of the SPV.
The award of this mandate to CHGC followed Oando’s successful participation in a tender process by the Rivers’ State Government to actualise its gas master plan. The Government’s objective was to find a qualified private sector partner to operate, rehabilitate and expand the state’s gas distribution grid for the purpose of utilizing gas as a catalyst for industrial development in the state.
The award covers (at the initial instance), the development of gas distribution infrastructure, and supply of natural gas at various locations in Port Harcourt which includes among others, Trans-Amadi, Choba, Airport, New UST area of Greater Port Harcourt City, Abuloma, Heliconia Park, Reclamation Road and environs.
The CHGC venture is another major milestone in Oando’s quest to build sub-Saharan Africa’s largest natural gas pipeline grid in Nigeria and is in line with the company’s aspiration to evolve home-grown solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.
