In 2009, OEPL acquired a 78% interest in Equator Exploration Limited. The acquisition included interests in six licenses.

Three of the blocks are offshore Nigeria, two in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Sao Tome and Principe and one in the Joint Development Zone.
