Oando Boosts Group Operations with New Appointments

• Bright Ahonsi appointed as CEO, Oando E & P
• Uche Dimiri appointed as CEO Oando Energy Services
• Akin Ayoola appointed as Group Head, Human Resources

In its drive to further strengthen its operations and achieve its vision of being Africa’s integrated energy solutions provider, Oando Plc has announced with immediate effect the appointments of Mr. Bright Ahonsi and Mr. Uche Dimiri as the new Chief Executive Officers for Oando Exploration and Production Limited (OEPL) and Oando Energy Services (OES) respectively. Also appointed to the Group Office is Mr. Akin Ayoola, as the new Group Head, Human Resources.

According to the Group CEO of Oando Plc, Mr. Wale Tinubu, “we have set a definite expansion strategy for our family of businesses and we are identifying very talented individuals to help extract optimal value for these portfolios for superior shareholder returns. The new appointees have a proven track record in various capacities and we are very confident of their ability to exceed expectations.”

Commenting further, Mr. Tinubu added, “We are building Africa’s largest integrated energy solutions group and we believe that our success hinges on employing talented professionals who can make a difference to our group of companies. We believe that these individuals possess excellent track records and are capable of impacting our businesses positively.”

Mr. Bright Ahonsi will be responsible for formulating and articulating the next stage of the vision by ensuring that Oando is able to quickly monetise its existing assets, by bringing them to first oil, and that Oando Exploration and Production achieves its aim of being the foremost Oil and Gas Producer in Nigeria.

Uche Dimiri, in his role as Chief Executive Officer, Oando Energy Services will be responsible for making Oando Energy Services the number one oil servicing company in Nigeria, and a partner of choice in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry. He will also oversee the introduction of new product lines by OES, while also building technical partnerships with foremost international partners of repute.

Akin Ayoola as the new Group Head, Human Resources is responsible for formulating a world-class human resource policy for the Oando Group, including all subsidiary companies and ensuring that only suitable, world-class personnel are employed that are capable of taking Oando Plc to the desired goal of being the integrated oil company in country.

Below is a profile of the new appointees.

Bright Ahonsi, Chief Executive Officer, Oando Exploration & Production, has spent over 25 years in the oil and gas industry, working or consulting internationally for major oil companies and new generation operators. His experience covers various locations including North Sea, UKCS, Dutch North Sea, Continental Europe, Middle East, North and West Africa.

His area of specialization include oil and gas field development (taking assets from initiation to first oil), while he has also managed mature fields optimization and production acceleration processes.

Bright has worked on various assets acquisition and divestment projects worldwide, including financing arrangement and has been involved with liaising with government bodies in the United Kingdom, Caspian, Middle East and Nigeria.

Some of the companies he has worked or consulted for include, Halliburton Energy Services Group, UK; AEA Technology, UK; Shell Nigeria and International; BP, UK; Total Pau and ENI Group, Milan, amongst others.
Mr. Bright Ahonsi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan and is a 25-year club member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Uche Dimiri, Chief Executive Officer, Oando Energy Services, is a graduate of the University of Lagos, where he was a ChevronTexaco Scholar. He also has a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt.

Prior to joining Oando, Uche was the World Wide Drilling Training Manager, Schlumberger D&M, England, with responsibility for implementing strategic directions for World Wide Directional Drilling Training.

Uche has close to 20 years industry experience in the Oil & Gas, with notable experiences in Measurements and Logging while Drilling, Directional Drilling Training and Development, Accounts Management, Operations and Sales and Marketing, all with Schlumberger.

His working career began in the Schlumberger Nigeria Office, where he was at various times, the Field Engineer, Drilling Engineer Directional Driller, and later, Cell Manager responsible for all services at the well site from 1988-1995.

In 1995, he was a Field Service Manager/Location Manager in Warri and later became a Product Champion, Rotary Steerable Systems at Schlumberger D&M Headquarters in Houston, USA before moving to the Paris Office as the Training Development and Staffing Manager.

Uche came back to Nigeria with the Oil Field Services unit of Schlumberger as the GeoMarket Accounts Manager, Shell and Oil Field Services Manager, Warri, where he provided account management for all services to Shell. He was later the Operations Manager, North West Africa based in Equatorial Guinea and the Sales and Marketing Manager, Nigeria GeoMarket.

Akin Ayoola, Group Head, Human Resources, is an accomplished HR professional with over 20 years generalist experience gained within the public and private sectors, with Recruitment & Selection, Compensation & Benefits and Industrial Relations as core competencies. He is a skillful negotiator with a track record of interaction with the various unions in the Oil and Gas industry.

Before joining Oando plc, Akin was the Human Resources Manager and Director of the Nigerian subsidiary of Transocean, Gulf of Guinea Division (the premier Offshore Drilling Contractor in the World).

He is a Political Science graduate from the University of Ibadan and is also a SAP Application Consultant in Human Resources SAP System.

His working experience include stints with the Federal Civil Service, Unilever Nigeria Plc, and Financial Merchant Bank before joining Schlumberger (Nigeria) Limited where he rose to the position of Country Personnel Manager. He was later assigned to Services Techniques Schlumberger Headquarters in Montrouge – France as Assistant Compensation and Benefits Manager.
