Oando Expands Aviation business - Acquires High Precision Bowser

In its continuous pursuit of exceeding customer expectations, Oando Plc has commenced the expansion of its Aviation business throughout the country. This expansion programme brought about the acquisition of a brand new articulated 75,000 litres capacity, high technical precision Bowser in the month of November 2004.

Within one month of this acquisition, Oando has significantly improved its aviation fuel volumes as more airlines have signed up with the company for the supply of aviation fuel while discussions with several international contracted aviation customers are in advanced stages. Sales volumes have jumped from about an average of 10 million litres to about 12 million litres.

According to the Aviation Manager, Mr. Livinus Arungwa, “this additional precision bowser has fully enhanced our operations further, as we are now able to fuel our customers’ airplanes efficiently and effectively with fuel delivery precision orientation. The feedback we are getting after a month of this purchase shows the customers are very happy with this improvement”

The very aircraft-friendly bowser has the capacity to fuel a 120,000 litre aircraft in 45 minutes as against 90 minutes that it would take a regular bowser to fill up the same aircraft. With this procurement of this new bowser from Flight Line Aviation, London, Oando now has a total of twelve of aviation bowsers in its fleet.

In addition to this acquisition, the company is building a world-class aviation terminal in Abuja that is 95% completed and would be commissioned in January 2005. With the Abuja aviation terminal, Oando is poised to add a large number of international airlines to it customer base. Plans are also underway to extend the company’s superior aviation services to Port Harcourt in the first quarter of next year. These developments are expected increase to market share and contribute significantly to the company’s bottomline.

The Chief Marketing Officer, Commercial of Oando, Mr. Ayo Ajose-Adeogun comments on these developments, “the acquisition of this bowser is a part of our holistic strategy of greatly improving our aviation business. With our Abuja and Port Harcourt Aviation facilities going to be ready within the first quarter of next year, we are poised to exceed our customers’ expectations in terms of excellent service delivery.”
