MediaMedia > Press Release > Archive18th November 2004Oando Commences products distribution from Onne Tank FarmIn furtherance of its corporate strategy for the continuous availability of petroleum products in Nigeria, Oando has from October 2004, commenced products distribution from its ultra modern, 30,000 MT Tank Farm in the Onne Oil & Gas Free Zone.The products distribution commenced after series of testing of equipment and flushing of the pipelines in compliance with the company’s strict Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy. Already, 14000 MT of PMS has been discharged and distributed form the facility ensuring adequate supply of fuel to not only the region but other parts of the country through bridging. With this development, Oando is able to achieve its objective of adequate storage facility for products, thereby enhancing stock availability and quick take off to the outlets. With four loading bays equipped with electronically controlled truck loading systems, trucks can fill at a loading rate in excess of 120,000 litres per hour. Not only have we demonstrated our commitment to the deregulation of the industry by making products continuously available, we are now able to offer superior services to our customers around Port Harcourt and beyond. This initiative has enabled Oando increase it market share particularly as most Independent marketers now rely on us for products supply in the region” The tank farm has already began to favourably impact the company’s business as retail outlets in the Port Harcourt region are supplied with products regularly and promptly, industrial customers are being regularly serviced, and short falls from Apapa are being complemented in terms of bridging and other supplies. According to the Head of Engineering, Engr S.A. Giwa, “ the main focus for us while constructing the Tank Farm was safety and we have built the Tank Farm to API 650 standards. Prior to commencing usage, we have subjected the facilities to rigorous tests and we are satisfied that the tank farm complies with all industry best practices on Health, Safety and Environmental Standards”.
