Oando Exploration and Production (OEPL), a subsidiary of Oando PLC, has been awarded the most outstanding independent energy company at the just concluded 15th Africa Upstream conference in Cape Town, South Africa, on Thursday, October 2, 2008.
The award recognized OEPL’s outstanding performance within the last one year with extensive fast growing asset portfolios in the upstream industry, and its remarkable successes in new ventures and acquisitions in the Gulf Of Guinea.
Five categories of awards are given annually by the organizers of the African Upstream in recognition of outstanding achievements in the development of the upstream sector of the African oil and gas industry. The five different categories are as follows:
- Distinguished Contribution to the African Industry
- Contribution to African Petroleum & Excellence
- Independent Player of the Year
- African Government
- Service & Supply Company
Oando was selected among other companies nominated from across the continent for the Independent Player of the Year.
