Excerpt from 2005 Annual Report

Oando has continued to build on the EHSQ gains of the preceding years. One of the measures to further improve on the EHSQ of Oando Plc was the introduction of the Environmental Health and Safety Management System, EHS-MS in all areas of operations of the company. During the year necessary guides, standards and procedures were put in place to ensure proper implementation of the EHS-MS. This brought about the execution of a lot of Enlightenment Campaigns and EHSQ Awareness Training programs for all stakeholders nationwide.

There was considerable improvement in the business performance of the company from EHSQ perspective as we continued to witness reduction in the number of lost work hours usually attributed to accidents.

Quality Management System on the ISO Project training was sustained during the year. A parallel training program on service station quality management was also implemented. The service station training was put in place to avail station management of the skill and techniques needed to enable them confirm the quality of products delivered to their stations.

The ISO Project entered the audit stage in Quarter 4 of 2005 with the kick off of internal audit trainings. Nominated audit trainees in Lagos area covering Head Office, Apapa Terminal and Aviation Terminal underwent their training between 21st and 23rd December 2005. Kaduna and Port Harcourt were billed for the training in the first and second week of 2006. Oando continues to play a leading role not only in the EHSQ of the Oil and Gas Industry in Nigeria but in creating the needed EHS Awareness in the country.
