Creation of a merit-driven culture

Our Performance Management System helps create a link between corporate objectives, departmental goals and individual targets.  Thus our employees know and understand what is required of them in terms of results and are able to focus their energy on value-added activities.  In addition, the system ensures supervisors and managers give periodic formal and informal feedback to team members such that performance issues can be identified and addressed early through training programs, job rotations etc.  Performance appraisals are open and employees are allowed to contest appraisal ratings where they do not agree.  Sometimes an arbitration panel needs to be set up so the views of each party are heard.  This helps ensure an environment of trust exists and merit-based decisions are taken.

The non-inflation determined pay increment, the bonus and promotion decisions of each staff is tied back to their performance results at year end, thus ensuring merit-based decisions are taken.
