Wale Tinubu is the Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc. He assumed this position in January 2005 after the consolidation of all Oando's companies into an integrated energy group known as the Oando Group. With Mr. Wale Tinubu at the helm of affairs, Oando has in just four years, successfully evolved from being the 7th placed petroleum marketing company listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange to the premier position. He has also successfully steered the company to the status of an integrated energy solutions provider, by adding gas, upstream oil, international supply, trading and energy services to its present stable of offerings. In 2002, Wale Tinubu piloted the largest ever acquisition of a quoted Nigerian company, with the acquisition of Agip by the then Unipetrol through an international bid conducted by Agip Petroli International B.V. In 2005, the Tinubu-led Oando become the first company in Africa to have an inward listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, thereby making Oando the official economic ambassadors of the NEPAD dream as championed by the Presidents of Nigeria and South Africa. Oando is blazing the trail for the drive for unity, integration and efficient exploitation of African resources for the benefit of Nigeria and the African continent. In its usual pioneering manner, Oando in 2006 became the only Petroleum Marketing Company in Nigeria to have had its processes, products and services comprehensively audited and endorsed by International Standards Organization (ISO) as meeting international standards. In January 2007, he was recognised by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Geneva, Switzerland, as one of the 250 leading executives, public figures, and intellectuals, all 40 or younger, chosen from around the world as Young Global Leaders for 2007. Wale started his career with the family's law firm, K.O. Tinubu & Co, upon graduation, where he worked on corporate and petroleum law assignments. In 1994, he became one of the founding partners of the Ocean and Oil Group. Whilst at Ocean and Oil, Wale was responsible for the strategic expansion of the business. Wale has a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Liverpool, England and a Master of Law degree (LLM) from the London School of Economics where he specialised in International Finance and Shipping. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
